In this short post, I want to share with you a very simple 3 steps formula of creating a successful and profitable online business.
If you miss these crucial steps, then you will find it difficult to make your online business profitable.
It’s an extremely simple formula and it really simplifies online marketing into three very simple but critical steps. What’s amazing is that when I look at marketers who are struggling with their business, 9 times out of 10 they are missing one of these steps and we’ll talk about that in just a second. Alright, lets reveal this magical 3 step formula.
Step number one in this formula is to…
1. Build Your Audience
If you have been in online marketing for any amount of time, then I am sure you have heard of the concept of “Building Your List”, specifically building your Email List. That is absolutely a critical part of building a successful business. But we can expand that a little bit more if we really think about the concept of building your audience.
You can leverage other people’s audience to build your business well, but if you want to build a sustainable long term business, I suggest that you build your own audience. No matter what you choose to do, we need an audience if you are going to sell to people online. We can build an audience on Social Media platforms, for instance we can build a Facebook Fanpage, we can build a Twitter following, Instagram following, or a Periscope following, we can build subscribers on Youtube, Blog Readers, and of course we can build an email list, since our email list is typically going to be our most engaged audience. So we start out by focusing on building this audience.
Step number two is to Engage Your Audience.

Next, we have to engage with this audience. This is the step where most marketers struggle or neglect. Then they wonder why they are not generating enough leads or they are not making enough sales and not earning enough money. Engaging with our audience is all about developing and deepening our relationship with our audience. It’s about being likable, It’s about establishing trust, and authority. We can develop our relationship by engaging directly with our audience, through content, videos, blog posts, webinars, podcasts, surveys, one-on-one connection are some of the great ways to engage with our audience. Lots of different ways through which we can engage our audience.
But no matter what we do, we gotta focus on deepening that relationship and that engagement if we want to increase our conversions, make sales and build a sustainable business.
Finally step number three is to Sell To Your Audience.
3. Sell Your Audience
Finally we get to step number three which is actually making the money. Selling to your audience. The important thing to know is that we cannot skip step number two, which is engaging with your audience which is the big mistake that most marketers make. If we haven’t established a relationship, if we haven’t built any trust, then there is absolutely no way we are gonna be able to earn a good income. We are not going to make the sales that we want to make.
Obviously, there is a lot that goes into each one of these steps, but this formula I hope will help you to really simplify and clarify what it is that we are trying to accomplish. Keep these three steps in mind so that it keeps in focused on the most important elements in your business. Every single day, every single week, you should be focused on these three steps.
Consistently building your audience, consistently engaging with your audience, and consistently selling to your audience. It’s the simple things that you do consistently, and you stay focused on that will create the results that you are looking for.
